A Luxuriously Comfortable and Relaxing Gite with a Vintage Twist

Need a break, yearn for a holiday with a bit of everything, with luxurious and comfortable surroundings in a gourmets paradise…perfect for two? Congratulations-you have just found the right place!

Who are we?

A luxury holiday accommodation business with a vintage twist, located in the North Dordogne, South West France.

Why are we different?

Imagine not having to swot up on what there is to do and see. We provide you with first-hand information on what not to miss and the more advantageous days to visit locations. We can also tell you where to find the best markets, the juiciest bargains and advise on how to indulge in your favourite interests and pastimes.

Plus a big bonus for lovers of vintage is the on-site private vintage museum, where we can indulge you in the lace, silk and fripperies of yesteryear.

Who do we appeal to and why?

Our typical guests are mainly professional couples looking forward to a complete de-stress from work. They enjoy the solitude of the garden, as they munch flaky croissants whilst reading books, a long-forgotten joy. The blue of the pool attracts them to a dip and cool down. Pleasure is taken sizzling delicious local market bought food on the barbeque whilst sipping wine as the sun goes down. They watch shooting stars in the clear night sky and marvel at owls calling each other across the treetops. Sightseeing tomorrow!

Our Mission

We aim to enrich our guests’ holiday experience by offering a high standard of accommodation and personal service which together ensures they can:

  • Unwind and relax – from the day of arrival
  • Experience local sites and French living – with tailored recommendations
  • Revive their spirits - so they return home refreshed

Our Goal

To have happy guests, contributing to the success of the business through endorsements and return visits.

Let our team introduce each other

William is ex-navy, full of Glaswegian wit and warmth. He’s a good listener with empathy, understanding, and a broad smile, especially when talking about his favourite subjects the Battle of Waterloo and Tintin!

Vanessa is a Geordie, an ex-food marketeer and avid vintage collector. As a lover of beautiful things, often bought at bargain prices, she has an excellent nose for knowing exactly where to find them. Tarry a while and she might share some of her secrets!

And together…

Now happily settled in France, we both love exploring, learning the unique history of the area, discovering local dishes, restaurants, eateries, and artisans.  This together with our personal passions and love of meeting people creates a unique mix for a great guest experience at Beaux Souvenirs.

FAQs from our guests

Why did we start this business?

"William and I have been intrepid travellers in our past and know what we like to see for accommodation, comfort and finishing touches,” said Vanessa "and when it comes to exploring the area, you simply can't beat local knowledge."

"A move to the Dordogne and the purchase of a large old stone coach house with space to spare gave us the idea to create our own gite business.  One where we could give our guests the kind of experience we love, from quality, originality and detail to being able to share our local knowledge and personal passions."

Our endorsements

A favourite highlight is seeing the look of amazement on the faces of guests as they walk into the gite for the first time. It’s such a pleasure for us to contribute towards the enjoyment of their holiday, and we appreciate the comments they leave behind in our Guestbook, such as -

“We were wowed from the moment we walked in, beautifully presented modern rustic gite with the host’s interests shining through. We used the fabulous saltwater pool and a stunning, peaceful garden every day. Vanessa and William are fantastic hosts, are extremely knowledgeable of the area and have provided a folder full of things to do and see in the region. Thank you so much for making our week. Highly recommended the stay and we hope to be back in the future.”

What are your plans for 2019?

The barn is full of oak beamed character and was the perfect place to turn into a fashion museum to house some of the beautiful items of clothing and accessories gathered over many years of collecting. By spring 2019 it will be ready for the enjoyment of friends and guests.

There are also plans to start a small potager and a herb garden.  Guests then will be able to take advantage of what’s fresh in the garden to accompany their home cooking.

We look forward to meeting you!
